On December 9, 2019, PayMeNYC attorney J.R. Skrabanek volunteered as a Civics Day Community Advisor for Generation Citizen’s Civics Day.
Generation Citizen’s mission is to ensure students receive an effective civics education, which provides them with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in our democracy as active citizens. Civics Day is like a science fair for civics in which middle and high school students from across New York City gather to present their action projects on issues affecting their communities to local officials and community leaders like J.R.
About volunteering, J.R. said, “It was an inspiring experience to witness all these young people share their ideas to improve our communities. I can’t wait to see them put their ideas into action!”
